Growing up in a small village in Noida, Vaibhav Chauhan was drawn to the arts despite coming from a background with no connections to the entertainment industry. “As a child, I always wanted to tell stories to the world,” he recalls. His love for music was sparked early, though he kept it hidden from his family, who were focused on more conventional career paths.
Vaibhav Chauhan’s journey took a decisive turn when he worked alongside Bollywood veteran Shakti Kapoor on the horror-comedy Shootiyapa, where he served as an assistant director. It was here that Vaibhav Chauhan had a breakthrough, seizing an unexpected opportunity to pitch his musical talent. His work impressed the producers, leading him to compose the title track for the film. This experience solidified his determination to pursue a career in music and storytelling.
Beyond Bollywood, Vaibhav Chauhan’s talents also drew the attention of South Indian cinema, where he had the opportunity to work with renowned actor Prithviraj Sukumaran on some projects. These early experiences allowed Vaibhav Chauhan to gain critical exposure while carving out his own artistic niche.
In 2021, Vaibhav Chauhan took a bold leap, moving to London to pursue a Master’s in Film Directing at the prestigious Met Film School in Ealing. The move was challenging yet transformative, as he navigated a new culture and artistic landscape without prior connections or financial backing. “Coming to London was like starting from scratch,” Vaibhav Chauhan reflects. “I had limited resources, but I knew I had to create my own path.” To make ends meet and build his portfolio, Vaibhav Chauhan started producing videos for London-based artists, often for free, in exchange for studio time to work on his own music. Despite the language barrier, Vaibhav Chauhan’s Hindi music resonated with London audiences, highlighting the universal power of music. “To enjoy music, you don’t need to understand the language—you just need to feel it,” he says. His persistence has since earned him a supportive following in London’s music scene.
